Hi,

I am pleased to announce that the third preview of Ruby 1.8.6 has been
released. This release is expected to be a candidate for the final
release, and all of you are welcome and invited to the final testing.

The new version of Ruby is a steady and reasonable enhancement of the
1.8 series including many bug and security fixes, feature enhancements
and performance improvements with high backward compatibility with the
previous release.

The source code tarball is available at the following location:

Please test the release candidate out and drop us a report immediately
if you find a problem. The ruby-core list and the bug tracker on
RubyForge are the preferable means to submit a bug report:

After five-odd full days of public preview and testing, the final
release will take place. It will hopefully occur on next weekend.
